If your boat does not have hydraulic trim tabs, perhaps it is time you gave them some serious consideration. Tabs are not just for big offshore boats any more. Even boats as small as 18 feet can benefit from having a set installed.
Here are just a few of the benefits you will derive:
-- You will have much greater control of your bow angle than if you just use your engine tilt and trim. That means getting the bow down farther when running into a head sea or getting the bow up higher when in a following sea.
-- In a quartering sea you can raise just the port or starboard bow to help reduce annoying spray and the tabs will let you compensate for an unbalanced load so your boat is riding level.
-- Trim tabs even help you get on plane faster and stay on plane with fewer RPMs.
